FILM TO TABLE SERIES EP 12: Pork Bao from Pixar’s Bao 🥟✨I have so much more appreciation for these little dumplings after trying to make them from scratch lol 

Domee Shi’s Mom’s Pork Bao

Ingredients

Dough
	•	4 cups all-purpose flour
	•	3/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
	•	2 cups plus 2 tablespoons warm water

Filling
	•	1 pound ground pork
	•	1/2 small head Napa cabbage, finely chopped
	•	1/2 carrot, finely chopped
	•	2 scallions, finely chopped
	•	1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
	•	1 tablespoon vegetable oil
	•	1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
	•	1 teaspoon oyster sauce
	•	1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine (or dry sherry)
	•	1 large egg, beaten
	•	Kosher salt and white pepper, to taste

Instructions
	1.	Make the Dough
	•	In a large bowl, mix flour and yeast. Slowly add warm water, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
	•	Knead on a floured surface until smooth, about 10 minutes.
	•	Transfer to a bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled, about 2 hours.
	2.	Make the Filling
	•	Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook half of the pork until browned, about 5 minutes.
	•	Transfer to a large bowl and add remaining raw pork, cabbage, carrot, scallions, ginger, bouillon powder, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until combined.
	3.	Form the Wrappers
	•	Punch down risen dough and roll into a long rope. Cut into 1-inch pieces.
	•	Roll each piece into a round, about 3 inches in diameter.
	4.	Fill and Seal
	•	Place 1 tablespoon filling in the center of each wrapper.
	•	Pleat edges up and around filling, pinching at the top to seal.
	5.	Steam the Bao
	•	Line a bamboo steamer with cabbage leaves or parchment. Arrange bao, leaving space between.
	•	Steam over boiling water for 15 minutes.
	•	Turn off heat and let bao rest, covered, for 5 minutes before serving.

Candy Corn Shortbread Cookies 🍁 I was immediately inspired by @chelsweets to make a shortbread cookie version of her mini candy corn sugar cookies because they were that cute!! 🥹🫶🏼

Candy Corn Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients
	•	2 cups all-purpose flour
	•	2 tablespoons cornstarch
	•	½ teaspoon table salt
	•	1 cup unsalted butter, softened
	•	¾ cup powdered sugar
	•	½ teaspoon vanilla extract
	•	Gel food coloring: orange and yellow

Method

1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and salt. Set aside.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes). Mix in the vanilla extract.

3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until a dough forms.

4. Split the dough evenly into three portions. (I like to weigh mine out)Leave one portion plain (white). Color one portion yellow and the other orange, kneading gently until the color is even.

5. Roll each portion between parchment sheets into a 6x8-inch rectangle, about ¼ inch thick. Chill for 15–20 minutes.

6. Stack the rectangles: yellow on the bottom, orange in the middle, white on top. Lightly roll so the layers stick together, then trim edges for a neat block then Slice into 1 cm logs, then cut each log into small triangles (alternating diagonals) to form candy corn shapes.

7. Refrigerate shaped cookies for 20–30 minutes.

8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake 7-10min minutes, until edges are set but tops remain pale.
Let them cool and serve

FILM TO TABLE SERIES EP11: The Gray Stuff from Beauty and the Beast. I was so excited when I found out that Disney had an official recipe for the gray stuff! I wanted to customize it a little more by making my own mascarpone whipped cream and decided to add more Oreos instead of the few tablespoons of chocolate pudding mix like their recipe calls for and it turned out so delicious! 

Re-imagined Gray Stuff ✨
Ingredients:
* 1½ cups cold whole milk
* 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
* 17 oreos
* 1¼ cups cold heavy whipping cream
* ¾ cup powdered sugar
* Splash vanilla extract
* 8 oz  mascarpone cheese, softened but still cold
* Edible sugar pearls (optional garnish)
Method:
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the cold milk and vanilla pudding mix for 2 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened. Cover and chill in the fridge for 1–2 hours until set.
2. Remove filling from 17 Oreos and transfer to a food processor, pulse the cookies until finely crushed 
3. Fold the crushed cookies into the chilled vanilla pudding until fully incorporated. 
4. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Add mascarpone and continue whipping just until stiff peaks form — don’t overmix.
5. Add pudding to the mascarpone whipped cream and gently fold until smooth and evenly combined.
6. Chill mixture for another hour to firm up. Spoon into a piping bag with a star tip and pipe onto scalloped sugar cookies.
7. Top with edible sugar pearls for garnish

Creamy Chicken & Gnocchi Soup

Ingredients
• 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (I used 6 in the video for more protein and because the package came in 6 loll)
• 2 Tbsp olive oil (or butter)
• 4Tbsp unsalted butter (for roux)
• 4Tbsp all-purpose flour
• 1 medium onion, diced
• 2 carrots, diced
• 2 celery stalks, diced
• 6 cups low sodium chicken stock
• 1 tsp roasted chicken Better than Bouillon (or to taste)
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 tsp dried thyme (or 2 tsp fresh)
• 1 tsp dried parsley
• ½ - 1 tsp garlic powder depending on your preference
• 1 package gnocchi (about 1lb)
• 3 cups kale, destemmed and chopped (I eyeballed it in the video but use as much as you’d like)
• ½ cup heavy cream
• ½ cup whole milk
• Salt & black pepper, to taste

Method
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery. Cook 6-8 minutes until softened.
2. Add 4Tbsp butter to the pot. Once melted, sprinkle in 4Tbsp flour. Stir constantly for 2-3 minutes
3. Slowly whisk in 2 cups of chicken stock, stirring to smooth out any lumps. Then gradually add the remaining stock. Stir in Better than Bouillon, bay leaf, thyme, and parsley, garlic powder and salt and pepper
4. Cook chicken:
Season chicken with salt & pepper, then add to the pot.
Simmer gently for 20-25 minutes, until chicken is tender and cooked through.
5. Remove cooked chicken, shred or cut it then add it back to the pot
6. Stir in gnocchi and kale. Simmer 3-4 minutes, until gnocchi float and kale wilts.
7. Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream and whole milk.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or more bouillon.
8. Serve:
Ladle into bowls and garnish with Parmesan.

FILM TO TABLE SERIES EP 10 - Mushroom Ravioli from Twilight. I think I’m not alone when I say that I was obsessed with this series (both the books and movies) when I was a teenager. Were you guys team Edward or Jacob? lol 

✨ Twilight Mushroom Ravioli

Dough (for 4 servings)
	•	400 g (about 3 ¼ cups) all-purpose or “00” flour
	•	4 large eggs
	•	generous pinch of salt

Filling
	•	8oz finely chopped baby portabella mushrooms 
	•	2–3 tbsp olive oil
	•	6–7 garlic cloves, minced
	•	400 g ricotta cheese
	•	¾–1 cup of grated Parmesan 
	•	Salt + pepper, to taste
	•	1-2 tbsp finely chopped parsley 

Sauce (Béchamel)
	•	4 tbsp unsalted butter
	•	4 tbsp all-purpose flour
	•	2 cups whole milk, warmed - plus more if you need to thin out the sauce 
	•	Pinch nutmeg
	•	Salt + pepper, to taste

Shiitake Topping
	•	8 oz shiitake mushrooms, sliced (stems removed)
	•	2 tbsp olive oil
	•	1 garlic clove, minced
	•	Salt + pepper
	•	1 shallot chopped
	

Method:
1.	Make Dough – Mix flour + eggs and salt knead until smooth, wrap and rest for 30 min.
2.	Prepare Filling – Sauté garlic in olive oil, add chopped portabellas season and cook until softened. Cool, then mix with ricotta, Parmesan, parsley, salt + pepper.
3.	Assemble Ravioli – Roll dough thin (I rolled mine to the 8 setting on my pasta roller), add 1 tsp filling, seal and cut.
4.	Make Béchamel – Melt butter, whisk in flour (1–2 min, don’t brown). Slowly whisk in warm milk until smooth. Simmer 5–7 min until creamy. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg. 
5. 	Cook Ravioli – Boil in salted water until they float (about 2-3min).
6.	Shiitake Topping – Sauté garlic and shallot in olive oil, add shiitake slices, season, cook until golden
7.	Serve – mix ravioli with the béchamel and plate it. garnish with shiitake slices, extra Parmesan, and more parsley

🥞Pumpkin Pie Spice Buttermilk Pancakes 

Dry Ingredients
• 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 ½ tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Wet Ingredients
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup pumpkin puree
• 2 Tbsp brown sugar
• 2 Tbsp maple syrup
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ¾ cup buttermilk, room temperature
• ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

🧈Cinnamon Butter
• ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
• 2 Tbsp brown sugar (you could also eyeball in some powdered sugar in place of brown sugar)
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• Pinch of salt
• Optional: ½ tsp vanilla extract

Method
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pumpkin pie spice.
2. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, buttermilk, and melted butter until smooth.
3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir gently until just combined. Some small lumps are okay — it’s best not to overmix.
4. Let the batter sit for 5-10 minutes. This gives the leavening a head start and makes pancakes slightly puffier.
5. Heat a nonstick pan or griddle over medium heat with butter and oil (I use both since I wanted the butter flavor while the oil helps the butter from browning too fast). Pour about ¼ cup batter per pancake. Cook 2-3 minutes until bubbles form and edges look set, then flip and cook another 1-2 minutes.
6. Stack the pancakes, top with your cinnamon butter
and drizzle with maple syrup

FILM TO TABLE SERIES EP 8: Pumpkin Pasties from Harry Potter ⚡️🎃 when I got the Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook the first thing I made were these pumpkin pasties and l've made them every year ever since! PASTRY CRUST: (I just used store-bought pie dough) 1¼ cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon granulated sugar ¼ teaspoon salt 5 tablespoons cold butter, cut into chunks 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening, chilled and cut into chunks 4-6 tablespoons ice water FILLING: 1 cup canned pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling ¼ cup granulated sugar ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon 1. Place the flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor. Pulse a few times to combine. Scatter the butter and shortening over the flour mixture. Pulse about 15 times until the mixture resembles coarse yellow meal, with no white powdery bits remaining. 2. Transfer the mixture into a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle 4 tablespoons of cold water over the mixture. Toss the mixture together with a spatula until it starts clumping together. If it's too dry, add more water tablespoon at a time (better too wet than too dry). Gather the dough into a ball and pat it into a disk. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least I hour. 3. Combine the pumpkin, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Mix well. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Roll out the dough ⅛-inch thick. Use a saucer to cut out 6-inch circles. 4. Put 2 to 3 tablespoons of filling in the center of each circle of dough. Moisten the edges with water, fold the dough over the filling, and crimp with a fork to seal the edges. Cut slits to make vents. LAVENDER BLACKBERRY MARGARITAS 🪻🌙 inspired by Practical Magic ✨this is what l'd imagine a midnight margarita would look and taste like. It has a lavender and rosemary simple syrup in honor of the movie. This margarita is fruity, romantic and mysterious and you can bet that l'll be making this for the premiere of practical magic 2! Lavender-Rosemary Simple Syrup • ½ cup sugar • ½ cup water 1-2tsp dried lavender (or 1 Tbsp fresh) • 1 sprig fresh rosemary • drizzle of honey (optional) Method: 1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water 2. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Then mix in honey, lavender and rosemary 3. Remove from heat, steep 10-15 minutes. 4. Strain and cool. Store in fridge up to 2 weeks. Margarita (1 serving) • 2 oz tequila blanco • 1 oz fresh lime juice • 1 oz Grand Marnier (you can use triple sec too) • ½ oz lavender-rosemary syrup • 4-5 fresh blackberries Method: 1. In a shaker, muddle blackberries 2. Add tequila, lime juice, and Grand Marnier and simple syrup 3. Fill with ice and shake vigorously (12-15 sec). 4. For meat sauce: * 1/2 lb. piece shank of veal, whole (I used beef short ribs since my local grocery store didn't have veal shank, I also added 1/2 pound of cubed chuck) * 1/2 lb. pork sausage (I used a combo of spicy and sweet) * Light Olive oil * Medium onion, chopped small * 5 large garlic cloves or more * 6oz can tomato paste * 1/2 cup red wine * 2 28oz cans Italian style tomatoes * Basil * 1 large carrot (you fish out the basil and carrot before serving the sauce, the carrot helps cut down on the acidity) For the meatballs: * 1lb ground mixture of veal, beef and pork * 1egg * Grated locatelli and sardo cheese * Fresh parsley * Garlic salt (optional) * Salt and finely ground pepper * 2 Tbsp Tomato sauce * Bread crumbs if needed for consistency Sear the meat in a large pot in olive oil until a little brown. Put aside. Sauté onion and garlic in the same pot until golden. Add tomato paste and red wine. Let them cook for about a minute or two. Add the two cans of tomatoes and mash them with the back of a spoon. When the sauce starts to bubble, add salt and pepper to taste and simmer for a while, stirring every now and then from the bottom up.  Add the meat and carrots. Cook covered on low for 3hours until meat comes apart with a fork. While that's simmering mix meatball ingredients together and roll into egg-size balls. Put raw meatballs in the sauce-do not fry them. When meatballs float to the top of the sauce (don't stir until they do), they should be done. (It's takes about an 1-2hrs). Simmer and stir a few more minutes. Remove pieces of veal and pork, slice, and serve as a side dish with meatballs.
