What is Synchronized Skating?
Synchronized skating is a fast-growing discipline of figure skating, combining the athleticism of traditional figure skating with the teamwork of sports like hockey and dance line precision. Teams of 8–20 skaters perform intricate routines on the ice, moving as one in unison while executing jumps, spins, footwork, and formations. Skaters are judged on synchronization, skating skills, choreography, interpretation, and technical difficulty. It is both artistically expressive and athletically demanding—and it’s on the path to becoming an Olympic sport.
What sets synchronized skating apart is the sheer teamwork and trust involved. Each skater relies on their teammates, creating an unbreakable bond as they train and perform together. The camaraderie and mutual support among team members are as essential as their skating skills, making every practice a journey of shared triumphs and challenges.
