Alana is a recent graduate from Arizona State University with a BS in Astrobiology and Biogeosciences. Her primary interests are science communication, informal education opportunities, and planetary sciences.
Previously employed in the Communications and Public Outreach department, she provided valuable insight on what fellow students need to succeed at Arizona State University's libraries. In addition to consultation, she has extensive experience creating a large variety of content for all platforms ranging from event flyers to instructional videos on the resources within the campus libraries.
While Alana has a wide range of skills, she is best known for her success at independent instruction and timeliness in a working setting. She enjoys having fun and passionate conversations with fellow coworkers and classmates of different backgrounds and ages, and like to think outside of the box.
As of May 2024, Alana completed the year long NASA partnered Eclipse Ambassador Program under the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP), where she actively organized and ran events with hopes to engage underserved communities with the knowledge and resources needed to safely observe solar eclipses. These events reached over 200 people, all whom were within the Tempe Arizona area.
Currently, Alana is developing interpersonal skills in her position with The Scion Group, refining her ability to work in a fast-paced corporate environment. She is a Customer Experience Manager of a student housing complex, ensuring an engaging and positive experience for residents in her property.
Alana maintained her schoolwork, extracurriculars and two jobs while finishing her degree in in three years as of May 2024.
