Hi, I'm the Founder/President of a nonprofit, ALX Dog Walk (www.alxdogwalk.com), which promotes plastic-free and sustainable living in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia region.
Our premier event, the annual ALX Dog Walk and Sustainability Festival, draws 700+ dogs and 1,000+ people and will take place next April 5th in celebration of Earth Month.
Our Walk event begins with a picturesque 2-mile dog walk down historic Union Street in Old Town Alexandria, looping back along the Potomac River, and culminating at Oronoco Bay Park on the riverfront with a Sustainability Festival where 65+ organizations display innovative products and services focused on sustainability. Attendees enjoy a lively celebration, including DJ music, family and dog activities, a dog show, food vendors, free morning coffee (if you bring a mug!), and much more.
Our 2025 partners include esteemed nonprofits such as Plastic Pollution Coalition, Sustainability Matters, and ACT for Alexandria. NBC4’s weather anchor, Chuck Bell, will emcee the event, with extensive promotion from sponsors NBC4 Washington, WTOP News, and Zebra Press through PSAs.
