Anchor Of Hope Outreach
Campobello, SC, USA
Anchor of Hope Outreach was born out of a holy burden — a quiet stirring that refused to be ignored. Nearly three years ago, a simple truth broke our hearts: while warm meals were served during the day in Spartanburg, no one was feeding the hungry at night. Men and women created in the image of God were going to sleep cold, hungry, and forgotten.
We couldn’t look away.
With nothing but compassion, a few home‑cooked meals, and a small van packed to the roof, we stepped into parking lots to offer what we had. There was no big plan, no big budget — just a desire to love people the way Jesus does.
And God met us there.
What began with a handful of meals has grown into a weekly outreach serving over 80 hot meals every Friday evening. Meals are prepared at Lake Bowen Baptist Church, using food donated from Spartanburg Regional Healthcare — food that once would have been thrown away, now transformed into nourishment, dignity, and hope.
Today, the ministry operates two buses, each one a testimony of God’s provision.
One carries food, tables, and chairs so our neighbors can sit down and enjoy a meal like family.
The other is filled with survival essentials — tents, sleeping bags, blankets, clothing, shoes, toiletries, flashlights, and more. These items are not luxuries. They are lifelines.
But Anchor of Hope Outreach has never been just about meeting physical needs. We feed them spiritually with weekly reading of God’s Word, prayer, and devotionals.
For each one of us, it’s about learning their names and looking them in the eye and remembering them.
It’s about listening to their stories that may have never been told.
It’s about praying with and over people who feel invisible.
It’s about reminding every person that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by God.
The need in Spartanburg is overwhelming. More than 3,000 individuals and families are experiencing homelessness. Many never imagined they would be in this situation — young adults aging out of foster care, parents who lost jobs, individuals battling illness or trauma, people who simply fell through the cracks of broken systems.
Yet even in the hardest moments, we have witnessed God’s faithfulness again and again.
God has always provided food in abundance when we had none.
Volunteers when we felt stretched thin.
Resources when the need seemed too great.
Strength when we were weary.
Every Friday night, we see miracles — in the smiles, the hugs, the tears of relief when someone receives a warm blanket or a hot meal. In the simple peace of knowing that, at least for tonight, no one will go to bed hungry.
As we look to the future, our heart is to be more than a meal.
We want to be a voice.
A refuge.
A bridge.
A reminder that hope is still alive.
Our story is not about what we have done — it is about what God has done and faithfully continues to do.
He called.
We said yes.
And He has carried this ministry every step of the way.
Anchor of Hope Outreach exists to shine light into the darkest places, to stand beside those the world overlooks, and to love our neighbors with the compassion of Jesus Christ.
And through God’s grace, our story is still being written.
