COMMRC Connect is the Department of Communication’s flagship undergraduate internship program, established in 2022. The program addresses a fundamental curricular challenge: building the bridge between communication study and communication practice.

The Communication Department has ongoing communication needs—circulating information about academic programs, sharing resources and opportunities with students, and telling the story of what it means to study communication at Pitt. Simultaneously, our curriculum equips students with skills to engage as effective communicators in academic and professional contexts. However, to build the bridge between communication study and communication practice, our students need authentic, public-facing frameworks for actualizing and applying these skills alongside their traditional coursework.

COMMRC Connect joins these needs. Working in conjunction with the department’s External Communication Committee, our team of interns gain authentic professional experience while producing essential departmental communications.
