Café Riders 661
Who We Are
Café Riders 661 is a community-based cycling organization in Santa Clarita, California, dedicated to advancing
cycling access, education, and wellness for riders of all backgrounds and abilities. Our mission is simple: to
connect people through cycling—building stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities, one ride at a
time.
Cycling in the Santa Clarita Valley and Los Angeles County
Santa Clarita Valley and Los Angeles County feature one of Southern California’s most active cycling networks,
with over 500 miles of bike lanes and trails countywide and more than 130 miles in Santa Clarita alone. The
region ranks among California’s top cycling-friendly areas, with participation increasing by over 25% since 2019.
Café Riders 661 contributes to this growth through structured rides, education, and advocacy.
Our Purpose
Café Riders 661 exists to promote safe and inclusive cycling, educate the community on bike safety and
etiquette, foster connection and wellness through shared rides, encourage sustainable transportation, and
support local cycling advocacy and infrastructure.
Our Structure and Ride Programs
Our program includes weekly Sunday rides for A, B, and C ability levels with 12–36 cyclists, and every 3rd
Sunday we host six community rides (6–28 miles) during the 'It’s All About Cycling' event with up to 110
participants. The weekend before, Ride Marshals train to ensure safe, well-organized events. Café Riders Plus
(CR661+) offers Tuesday and Thursday tempo rides (4–8 cyclists) and Saturday endurance climbs (6–18
cyclists), totaling 45 members. Ride Marshals support route guidance, safety, and mentoring.
Signature Programs and Events
Key programs include: 'It’s All About Cycling' monthly rides in partnership with Trek SCV; 'Mind in Motion'
wellness talks with Dr. Mehdi Meratee; 'The Baker’s Dozen' endurance event offering metric and full century
rides; the Café Riders Plus SCV Hill Climb Challenge featuring 11 climbs and local shop support; and our
partnership with Bike MS Los Angeles Coastal Challenge, where Café Riders 661 provides route planning,
SAG, and event support.
Our Vision
To make cycling accessible, educational, and life-enhancing for everyone—creating a culture where people of
all backgrounds feel welcome, valued, and inspired to 'pedal together."
