My name is Rob Carter, I’m a long time Chef that grew up in a family that had a deep hospitality background. Having took the trade from my grandmothers kitchen and various franchised restaurant chains that my family owned, I’d eventually take my talent to culinary school where I’d learn under the likes of Master Chef Tim Bucci as well as Food Network’s Americas Best Baker winner, Chef Andy Chelbana. After culinary school, I’d spend a few years working and staging in various Michelin starred kitchens, most notably Paul Virants former flagship Restaurant, Vie. As of 2023, I decided to switch gears in my career and put into motion a dream that I’ve had since culinary school. That dream is Diaspora - Chicago. With Diaspora, my goal is to foster community, tell stories, and push the boundaries of what Black food can be. We’ve gained a ton of traction in a short amount of time by putting out a product that resonates with people on a personal level. Any future collaborators or sponsors that choose to partner with us, also has a chance to put their fingerprints on a brand that is set to trail blaze and leave a lasting impression on people’s lives.
