Elisa Summiel-Bey is an illustrator, designer, and creative business owner who believes art can be both beautiful and healing. She’s the founder of Illustrated Melanin, a wellness-centered stationery brand that centers Black and Brown women through meaningful products and community experiences. From journals and greeting cards to coloring books and events, everything she creates is rooted in love, intentionality, and joy.

Elisa started her business in 2020 after years of working in design and feeling the toll of burnout and chronic illness. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a calling—to make space for wellness, self-expression, and stories that often go unseen. Through her monthly Color & Chill events, she brings people together to slow down, color, and connect. And through her podcast Dear Aunt Flo, she opens up about life with endometriosis and the realities of living in a body that doesn’t always cooperate.

With over a decade of experience in graphic design, print, and production, Elisa brings intention and thoughtfulness to every project. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design and a Master’s in Communication Design.

Originally from the East Coast and now based in San Diego, she spends her days drawing, dreaming up new ideas, and creating work that encourages others to feel seen and supported. For Elisa, creativity isn’t just a skill. It’s a way of being.
