Freedom Day at Tuscarora Dental (Martinsburg, WV) — In Partnership with Freedom Day USA

Freedom Day USA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Dr. Robert Martino and recognized as the nation’s largest military “thank-you” movement—bringing together dental offices, businesses, and volunteers to provide free services and community support to veterans, active-duty military, and their families. Freedom Day USA reports delivering $15M+ in donated services to 50,000+ military members, veterans, and their families nationwide.

Why this event matters:
Most veterans do not have routine dental coverage through the VA. In many cases, veterans must meet strict eligibility requirements (often including being deemed 100% service-connected disabled) to qualify for VA dental benefits—leaving many without access to needed care. Oral health isn’t just about a smile; it impacts whole-body health, comfort, and confidence.

What we do locally (Tuscarora Dental):
Each fall, our team hosts Freedom Day to provide complimentary dental care for local veterans—commonly including exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and extractions—supported by community partners who help us expand what’s possible.

Our impact:

Since we began participating (2021): 100+ veterans served
$50,000+ in donated dental treatment provided
Most recent event year: 38 veterans served and $21,142 in donated treatment
Raffle proceeds have helped us cover additional needs beyond the day of care—including funding a denture for a veteran after the event

What partners make possible:
Sponsors and in-kind donors help cover supplies, lab costs for more complex care, patient gifts, meals, and event logistics. Because we host in partnership with Freedom Day USA, qualifying donations can be processed under Freedom Day USA’s 501(c)(3) EIN (documentation available).

Event experience:
Freedom Day is also a community celebration—free veteran meals through Titan BBQ, live broadcast support from 95.9 The Big Dawg, and local entertainment (including Cazhmiere), plus raffle/prize giveaways as a heartfelt thank-you.

We’re also hosting a Women Veterans Appreciation raffle on June 12 to raise funds to support Freedom Day 2026 and help cover added treatment needs such as lab bills for higher-cost cases.
