Jen Dean's Lovey Project
I founded Lovey Project in 2015 with the goal of making Loveys (beloved stuffed animals) and what they represent (unconditional love, comfort and stability) available to all children, inspired by my middle son's beloved stuffed dolphin. This son also has a deep love of all things Halloween and is an artist, so we began raising money by inviting friends and neighbors to yearly Haunted Houses we would design and build in our garage. My son is now off at SCAD, studying themed attraction design to build these houses for real!
Our Lovey Project charity is now dedicated to helping young children and their families build healthy habits for resiliency, mindfulness, creativity, focus, and self-confidence. We believe in giving kids “training wheels for their brains”—tools and experiences that support long-term mental wellness .
Our annual fundraiser is now a Halloween Ball, set-designed by my son, and offering the ultimate spooky-fun Halloween experience! We hope to raise enough during this one event to fund all of our 2025-2026 programming and put aside savings towards a Lovey Project building.
Through community programs, wellness events, independent reading support, and free-range play, The Lovey Project is creating an environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and creatively—in a world that desperately needs it.
