For the past decade, I have lived and worked in Afghanistan, building long-term relationships in communities far beyond the country’s political centers. My work began in anti-corruption, agriculture, and rural development, but over time it became something deeper: earning trust in places where people are rarely asked what they have survived, what they believe, or what they need.
I am the founder of Homestead Afghanistan, a U.S. 501(c)(3) focused on food security, regenerative agriculture, and practical pathways to rural resilience. I work at the intersection of development, security, and storytelling, often in places where systems have failed and communities have been left to fend for themselves.
Today, that work has evolved into documentary filmmaking. Alongside Afghan partners and Emmy-winning producers, I am developing an investigative documentary expedition focused on the lives of Afghan women, the abuse of power, and the voices that have been excluded from both media and policy conversations for far too long.
I believe the people living closest to the problem often understand the solution better than anyone else. My work is about listening long enough to hear it.
