Diabetes Outreach Support and Education for Students (DOSES)
Diabetes Outreach Support and Education for Students (DOSES) is a student organization at Ohio University dedicated to making campus a more supportive, inclusive, and diabetes-friendly environment. DOSES focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of diabetes while creating opportunities for students to connect, learn, volunteer, and advocate for people living with diabetes.
DOSES works to educate the Ohio University and surrounding community about diabetes through educational events, awareness activities, community outreach, service projects, and fundraising. The organization welcomes students of all backgrounds, whether they live with diabetes themselves, have a family member or friend with diabetes, or simply want to become more knowledgeable about diabetes.
Partnership with The Diabetes Link
DOSES also connects with The Diabetes Link, a national nonprofit organization focused on supporting young adults living with diabetes. The Diabetes Link’s college chapters provide peer support, connections, resources, advocacy opportunities, volunteer activities, social events, and a community for students affected by diabetes. Through this connection, DOSES can help create a stronger support system for students with diabetes at Ohio University. The organization promotes the idea that students should not have to navigate college and diabetes alone. Members can connect with others who understand their experiences, share resources, participate in diabetes advocacy, and help make campus more welcoming for students living with diabetes.
DOSES brings together education, advocacy, community service, peer support, and diabetes awareness to help make Ohio University a more diabetes-friendly campus.
