Hello! My name is Emmanuel Perez, and I create content focused on running. I’m currently a freshman at Northern Arizona University (NAU), where I compete in Cross Country and Track & Field.

In high school, I had a significant impact on many runners, especially those in the Mexican community who struggled with self-belief. I started cross country in my sophomore year. I wasn’t great at first, but I believed I could become one of the best runners in the nation. Over time, I improved and became one of the top runners in California, with personal bests of 8:40 in the 3200 and 14:01 in the 5K. I won state twice and qualified for NXN twice as well.

Now, I’ve transitioned to college life in Flagstaff and have already raced twice for NAU. Recently, I placed 3rd overall in an 8K in Tucson, finishing in 23:11—just missing 2nd place by 0.3 seconds against my teammate. This Friday, I might have the chance to race in the Notre Dame Invitational 8K wearing the NAU singlet.

I’m dedicated to this sport, and my teammates believe I might race this year instead of redshirting, which is typical for freshmen at a powerhouse like NAU. I’ll find out tomorrow if I’ll be racing.
