Purple Mountain Events is a community-focused fitness event company based in the heart of Colorado Springs, CO. We believe in building more than competitions — we build connections, community, and confidence through elite-level fitness events designed for every athlete.
Our flagship event, the Purple Mountain Throwdown, is Colorado's largest functional fitness competition, bringing together 300+ athletes, local gyms, and community partners for a two-day celebration of grit, fun, and fierce competition. Every event we host is intentionally crafted to push boundaries, foster connection, and leave athletes inspired — indoors and out.
Beyond the Throwdown, we run the Purple Mountain Summit Podcast, featuring conversations with local legends and industry pros, and Purple Mountain Gym Takeovers — a free community engagement series that activates local gyms with mini-competitions, clinics, and community workouts.
About the Founder — Preston Shepard
Preston is a lifelong athlete, coach, and community connector who saw the need for fitness events that go beyond competition. With a background in event planning, coaching, and gym culture, he launched Purple Mountain Events to create spaces where people feel seen, challenged, and celebrated. A former U.S. Army Officer with eight years of honorable service, Preston brings discipline, leadership, and mission-driven purpose to every event he leads.
