Safe At Home was founded by Ali & Joe Torre in 2002 to end the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education. Joe Torre grew up in a home where there was domestic violence that left lasting scars. Although he did not realize it then, he used to feel like the abuse was his fault. He felt helpless and alone. For many years, he felt ashamed and worthless. As an adult, he began to speak openly about his childhood experience with domestic violence. As he gained the understanding and knowledge that too many children live in fear, are unaware of how to ask for help, and suffer the same debilitating fear that he and his family had, his wife, Ali, and Joe founded the Safe At Home Foundation in 2002.
