Spooky Empire Film Festival
Aléa Figueroa is an Emmy Award-winning producer and the Film Festival Director of the Spooky Empire Film Festival, where she leads both the creative vision and strategic partnerships for one of the most unique genre festivals in the country. Under her leadership, the festival has become a standout celebration of indie horror and Halloween-themed cinema—drawing thousands of fans, filmmakers, and industry insiders each year.
Figueroa is also the founder of Reel Dreams And You, a nonprofit dedicated to helping aspiring and underrepresented filmmakers turn their passion into practical careers. The Spooky Empire Film Festival now serves as the organization’s biggest annual fundraiser, with proceeds directly supporting mentorships, hands-on youth workshops, and career-building opportunities for emerging creators.
In addition to her festival and nonprofit work, Figueroa produced the Emmy-nominated documentary Remembering Innsbruck: The Story of the 1979 Avalanche for Stetson University, helping raise awareness and funds for the restoration of Hulley Tower, which broke ground in 2025. A proud SAG-AFTRA and AEA member, she began her career as an actor with credits in Cobra Kai, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, and The Right Stuff.
She currently serves as Marketing Chair for DeLand’s Got Talent and is an active member of the DeLand Breakfast Rotary and the Krewe of Amalee—always finding ways to merge storytelling, service, and community building.
