Our Mission: To promote mental health within the Christian community.
Need: 1 in 5 Americans need mental health support, and this number is no different in the Christian Church. Where as in times past people used to run to the Church for mental health support, they are now turned away, with pastors and boards afraid of lawsuits and potential public relations nightmares. Between exorbitant costs, incongruence with faith, and lack of availability, many who seek mental health care that aligns with their Christian values go without proper support and care.
Solution: Provide affordable, scripturally-based mental health care.
2026 Goal: FREE Biblical Counseling to 1,000 individuals who otherwise would go without.

Storm Breakers was born out of a life-altering personal transformation and an unwavering commitment to helping others overcome depression through the truth of God’s Word. What began as a journey of personal struggle for D.M. Samms, a Biblical Counselor, has blossomed into a ministry that now offers hope and healing to countless individuals. His own path from despair to freedom became the blueprint for a mission that continues to change lives.

In 2004, after a profound encounter with Christ, Samms dedicated his life to advancing God’s Kingdom—sharing the Gospel across California and offering the message of salvation to anyone willing to listen. His passion for ministry is rooted in his own battle with depression, a season marked by profound loneliness, deep emotional pain, and the weight of what Scripture calls the “spirit of heaviness.”

During an intense five-year period, God revealed to Samms powerful biblical principles for breaking free from depression. By God’s grace, these truths brought lasting freedom—freedom that would become the heartbeat of Storm Breakers.

The ministry took its first tangible form with the publication of Storm Breakers: Silence the Storm of Depression, a book designed to equip readers with Scripture-based strategies to navigate emotional storms. From there, Storm Breakers Effective Biblical Counseling was established, offering compassionate, Christ-centered counseling and practical tools for restoration to anyone in need.

From the very beginning, Storm Breakers has remained committed to freely sharing the same freedom and healing its founder experienced. Through prayer, financial partnership, and community support, the ministry continues to empower individuals to break the chains of depression and reclaim their lives in Christ.

The mission is unwavering and clear: to bring hope, healing, and restoration to those who need it most. Storm Breakers exists to remind every hurting heart that no storm is too great for God’s power to bring peace.
