The Boatyard is a reimagining of the iconic Fiddler’s Green restaurant in Point Loma, led by Michelin-awarded Chef Jason McLeod and featuring designs by Paul Basile. The project is backed by a team of local industry veterans, including Cal and Jan Muir of Sail San Diego, marketing executive Whitney Eckis, and entrepreneur Spencer Moran.
Drawing on the area’s rich maritime history, The Boatyard will feature a menu of fresh, locally sourced seafood, prime steaks, an extensive wine and cocktail program, and Point Loma’s first speakeasy.
Basile’s vision will transform the original building into a relaxed yet refined space, with a full demolition and reconstruction planned for a mid-2025 opening.
The Boatyard’s culinary approach, directed by Chef McLeod, focuses on simplicity and quality, using the best local, sustainable ingredients and straightforward techniques, such as grilling over an open wood-burning fire to enhance natural flavors.
Originally established in 1994, Fiddler’s Green was a beloved nautical-themed restaurant known for its hospitality and vibrant atmosphere. It served as a gathering place for sailors, fishermen, and the local community for nearly 30 years before closing in May 2023.
The Boatyard team, led by Cal Muir, who grew up around the docks and has deep ties to the restaurant, aims to honor Fiddler’s Green’s legacy by creating a welcoming space that maintains the spirit of the community with an elevated yet approachable dining experience.
