Founded in 2020, Tufino's Tournaments began as a grassroots effort to elevate the local handball scene and provide a structured, highly competitive platform for up-and-coming players. What started as local park games quickly evolved into highly anticipated community events, transforming classic Queens courts at locations like Pomonok Playground, Moore Homestead Playground (Bway), and I.S. 010 into main stages for New York's wallball community.
The love for the sport goes far beyond just organizing brackets and keeping score. It is rooted in a deep respect for the authentic, unifying culture of NYC street sports. This passion drives a hands-on approach to every aspect of the tournaments—from refereeing intense matches and designing custom 90s-style graffiti promotional flyers, to hustling for sponsorships with brands like Taste Salud and setting up local refreshment stands with custom fruit lemonades for the players and crowds.
Handball in New York is more than a game; it is a neighborhood institution. The drive behind these tournaments is to preserve that raw energy of classic one-wall handball, ensuring the parks stay active, the community stays connected, and the next generation of local talent has a dedicated proving ground to shine and earn their respect on the wall.
